The staff at Black Duck Kitchens work hard to provide you with an innovative and quality product.  In order to ensure your new purchase looks this great well into the future, please take note of the following recommendations while cleaning your surfaces.

Care & Maintenance Information

Stainless Steel Applicances

Stainless steel appliances may be cleaned with either warm soapy water or a mild cleanser (Ajax Spray & Wipe).  There are also specialised stainless steel cleaners on the market that both restore the surface and repel dirt and smudges.

Ceramic Cooktops

You may see a ring of film forming over your hotplates.  This can be removed simply and easily by using a specialised ceramic cooktop cleaner and scraper.

Glass Splashbacks

Splashbacks are made from toughened glass which is hardwearing and durable.  To keep your glass looking great, we recommend cleaning it with a mild cleanser (Ajax Spray & Wipe) or warm soapy water.  Abrasive cleaners and cloths should be avoided.  Microfibre cloths are great for helping you achieve a streak free, smudge free finish without the chemicals.

Granite & Marble Tops

Granite and marble are usually found with a degree of porosity.  To avoid staining we recommend you avoid any product containing bleach, ammonia or lemon juice. The best thing to use is Pure Methylated Spirits and/or a mix of 50% methylated spirit & 50% water. There is also a specialised granite & marble cleaner available for purchase at Black Duck Kitchens.

Laminated Benchtops & Cupboards

Laminates are resistant to most household stains but care should be taken to avoid scratching the surface. Do not use chemicals or abrasive cleaners on these surfaces. Warm soapy water or a mild cleanser ie spray & wipe varieties are recommended. Microfibre cloths can be used without chemicals. The use of chopping boards when using knives will help to protect your bench top and prolong its life, this is highly recommended. Never place hot items directly from any stove or barbeque top ie frypans, kettles, pots, trays etc., directly on your bench top as this surface is not 100% heat proof!

Stone Tops

Granite & Marble is usually found with a degree of porosity. To avoid staining avoid any product containing bleach, ammonia or lemon juice. The best thing to use is pure methylated spirits and/or a mix of 50% methylated spirit & 50% water. There is also specialised granite and marble cleaners available in supermarkets; follow their directions. Warm soapy water usually leaves marks but can be used as a first base clean, followed by a spray of glass/window cleaner and wiped off with a very clean cloth to give a great shine and streak free finish. Never place hot items directly from any stove or barbeque top ie frypans, kettles, pots, trays etc., directly on your bench top as this surface is not 100% heat proof!

Two-Pack Painted Doors, Drawers & Panels

Two-pack paint is extremely hard wearing, but care should still be taken to avoid scratching and staining. Mild cleansers and non-abrasive cleaning cloths may be used to clean surfaces, or just use 100% water and a very clean cloth, or a microfiber cloth alone. If in the event your two-pack surface does sustain a chip, touch up paint may be used to make minor repairs, depending on the damage and age of the kitchen.
